Loz was summoning all of what was turning out to be her considerable courage to walk with Dave toward the undergrowth. She was looking into the faces of people she knew, screaming at her, people she’d been polite to in her office picking up stones ready to throw at her. Others were stepping into their way and screaming right back at them. Whatever her expression in return might be seemed an utterly futile question. There was no emotion she could summon that could handle this. So after having seen some of those faces, she looked behind her, and saw Autumn huddling with her two friends, making gestures, probably trying to find some spell for calm, while Paul and Mick were bumping fists, trying to be stoic in the face of their own fear. She saw Robin Daniels talking into his microphone, broadcasting live, his engineer Logan with his eyes closed, obviously wondering why all this was his problem. Her hand found Dave’s, and he managed a smile back at her. It was a smile with hardly anything to it, but he’d managed to find it for her.
